In his engaging new collection, National Book Award finalist Gary Soto creates poems that each begin with a line from Shakespeare and then continue in Soto's fresh and accessible verse. Drawing on moments from the sonnets, Hamlet, Macbeth, A Midsummer Night's Dream, Romeo and Juliet, and others, Soto illuminates aspects of the source material while taking his poems in directions of their own, strategically employing the color of "thee" and "thine," kings, thieves, and lovers. The results are inspired, by turns meditative, playful, and moving, and consistently fascinating for the conversation they create between the Bard's time and language and our own here and now.

The Last Epistle is written with the scriptures and exposes mysteries of the Bible never before revealed, ultimately shining light on prophecy. Christ said he is the beginning [Alpha] and the end [Omega] all of which has been explained in this little book. Are we headed for WW III? Why is there so much of an uproar in the Middle East? When God is good why is there so much bad in this world? Why did God create mankind? Was it for his pleasure as some claim? Yet there is so much suffering in the world, surly God does not get pleasure from this, does he? In Proverbs nine, verse ten Solomon tells us the beginning of wisdom is to fear the Lord. Hence where are the wise? Where is the scribe? Where are the prophets?

The Ba'th Party established its regime in Syria following the coup d'etat of March 8, 1963. During the period 1963-66, Syria underwent significant social and political changes while the nature of the Ba'th party itself was deeply altered. This book establishes the chronology of the period, identifies the issues and the acting forces that shaped it, and evaluates the significance of these changes and developments. Particular emphasis is placed on the unique relationship between the leaders of the Syrian army and the Ba'th party organization, and the role played in Syrian politics by sectarian loyalties and tensions. Syria's complex relationship with Egypt and President Nasser and the dichotomy of the Ba'th regime and the Syrian population are covered in detail. The reader is presented with several useful appendixes*unobtainable elsewhere: lists of Syrian cabinets, Ba'th party congresses, National and Regional Commands, Ba'th and Syrian personalities, and the first English translation of a major Ba'thi ideological text.

This vintage book contains a collection of short stories written by Ben Brierly. Brierly wrote many droll and peculiarly humerous stories set in south Lancashire. Full of both comedy and pathos, his tales paint an authentic picture of provincial life in Lancaster and continue to be popular amongst residents of the area today. Highly recommended for those familiar with Lancashire and fans of Bierly's wonderful work. Contents include: "A Moston Rent Dinner", "Ab-o'th-Yate in London", "Preparin' for Walmsley Fowt Jubilee Celebration", "Walmsley Fowt Bonfire", "Prince o' Wales' Visit to Walmsley Fowt", "Recollections of the Great Jubilee Exhibition", "At the Manchester Exhibition"m "Philosophic Reflections on the Great Jubilee Echibition", et cetera. Many vintage books such as this are increasingly scarce and expensive. We are republishing this volume now in an affordable, modern edition complete with the original artwork and text.

The Ba'th Party came to power in 1968 and remained for thirty-five years, until the 2003 US invasion. Under the leadership of Saddam Hussein, who became president of Iraq in 1979, a powerful authoritarian regime was created based on a system of violence and an extraordinary surveillance network, as well as reward schemes and incentives for supporters of the party. The true horrors of this regime have been exposed for the first time through a massive archive of government documents captured by the United States after the fall of Saddam Hussein. It is these documents that form the basis of this extraordinarily revealing book and that have been translated and analyzed by Joseph Sassoon, an Iraqi-born scholar and seasoned commentator on the Middle East. They uncover the secrets of the innermost workings of Hussein's Revolutionary Command Council, how the party was structured, how it operated via its network of informers and how the system of rewards functioned.

The IL-17 cytokines represent a novel family of cytokines, which defines a new effector T cell, the Th17 cell, and extend the Th1-Th2 paradigm. Th17 cells in part co-express at least IL-17A and IL-17F, IL-21 and IL-22. IL-17 A/F are produced by T cells ( and ), iNKT cells, and possibly neutrophils, dendritic cells and Paneth cells. The regulation of IL-17 family member’s expression, and the identification of effector mechanisms are an area of intense current research. Recognized regulators of IL-17A expression include the nuclear receptor ROR t, proinflammatory cyt- ines such as IL-1, IL-6 with TGF- , IL-21, IL-23 IL-25 in the absence of IFN- and IL-4, which are discussed. Recent data suggest that IL-17A may have a dual fu- tion – pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory- suggesting that IL-17A may also contribute to terminate inflammation. Further, a reciprocal regulation of Th17 and regulatory T cells including the role of retinoic acid and TGF- is discussed. The discovery that patients with rheumatoid arthritis, allergic disorders, psor- sis and inflammatory bowel disease express IL-17A generated interest in the medical community and instigated a flurry of experimental research on the potential role of Th17 in inflammatory diseases. Experimental studies confirmed that IL-17A is induced and is critical for the development of allergic lung inflammation, arthritis, bacterial sepsis, experimental allergic encephalomyelitis and myocarditis, as well as other inflammatory con- tions including organ transplantation. The role of IL-17F and IL-22 is still poorly defined and is only slowly emerging.
