Michael Tomatoes, artist, sculptor and manic-depressive, is a man at pains to discover the nature of self, even if that means being someone else. A tool of fate, he sticks his fingers in the electric socket of life and wonders about suffering and loss. Is his obsession with numbers the result of a robotic condition, metal under the skin, or a paranoic attempt to decipher the intricacies of a more mundane and human predicament? That is: breathing, sucking in and blowing out all those other selves that compose a reality at once familiar and strange.

"Imbroglio is a satire on the process of writing a novel. Nic and Ruby have decided to become co-authors to write and publish a best-selling novel. Nic wants their story to include sex and violence, high-speed car chases with a bloodthirsty ending. That's what readers want, according to Nic. Ruby does not agree. She prefers a story with love and romance, with everyone living happily ever after. Will they be able to settle their differences and get the novel published?" -- back cover.

This spring has been a time when the tom-toms of war were beating loudly. Retired air force generals with close links to the Pentagon appeared on television to draw lines on the map of the vast territories between the Mediterranean, the Caspian Sea and the Indian Ocean showing how high flying drones would identify nuclear installations U.S. bombers would destroy them. The US Navy dispatched a second and prepared a third aircraft carrier battle group to join the one already deployed in the Persian Gulf. A former White House strategist told the readers of the Wall Street Journal that with "half a million New Yorkers facing a 1 in 20 chance of annihilation [the President) should order the US armed forces to attack and destroy [enemy targets] with massive ordnance enetrators; fuel air detonations with almost the force of nuclear weapons; high powered microwave attack destroy Iran's laboratories and its electrical grid." President Barack Obama's comment was that this "war talk could be counter productive." But, is it? Sir Eldon Griffiths with 30 years of experience in the British Parliament also has spent years in Iran and his book brings a fresh look at Iran. As this book went to press James Clapper, chief of the US National Security Council told Congress, "The United States assesses that Iran does not have a nuclear weapon and has not made the political decision to make one." One of his British opposite numbers added: "While the intentions of the Iranian regime remain opaque we don't believe they have made the decision to weaponize." Netanhayu and his US admirers dismissed these uncertainties: "If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it IS a duck," he said.

The spirit of Don Quixote burnishes the six main characters of this novel that begins with the arrival of North Americans Kyle and Carmen Daly in Central America. The two settle within a civilization awash, into a culture termed indistinct even by those who exploit it. Their adventure entangles them. They are trapped between an on-rush of modern values and those of the archaic Maya, whose descendents — outcast by the society of which they form the bulwark — remain steadfast in chivalric beliefs. As unwitting abettors to religious, social and economic bigotry patronized by U.S. missionaries, embassy staff, cable television ministries and businessmen mate–seekers, along with a cadre of Hispanic adoption attorneys and U.S. citizen wannabe’s, Kyle and Carmen attempt to stand upon the principals of their lineage: Right and Wrong. From this moral basis they try to manage the skirmishes of child theft, adultery, assassination, murder and revenge into which they are drawn. They find themselves within a Quixotic menagerie. Their embroilment, both comic and tragic, becomes, at best, a tenuous legacy. Through intricate plotting, The Quixote Imbroglio examines the melding of Spaniard and Indian cultures — today imaginable as an emerging solidarity at once catalyzed by, and complicated by, that third founding culture of the New World: the dogmatic Northamerican colonist.

Alexander Roth wants power and will stop at nothing in order to get it, even if it means destroying Earth two hundred years in the future. Travel with Curtis Reed, (bioengineering scientist), and Jan Cornell, (skilled surgeon), and Douglas Merril, (millionaire), as they become trapped in the past, out smart and out run the evil forces trying to take power, escape selective memory alteration in the future, and dodge flying bullets inside burning chemical buildings.
